13 Women Now Operating Combine Harvesters in Northern Ghana

Thirteen young women have successfully completed training in mechanised agriculture under the DiWAOW (Diversified Women in Agriculture Occupations for Wealth) initiative, a component of the HAPPY Program implemented by Agri-Impact Limited with support from MiDA (Millennium Development Authority).

The participants underwent a one-month intensive training programme at the Adidome Farm Institute, gaining hands-on skills in the operation of combine harvesters and other mechanised farming equipment.

Following their training, the women were placed on internships with leading agribusinesses including the Agri-Impact Agribusiness Cluster (AAC), Delma Farms, Maphlix Trust Ghana Ltd, and Agro Kings Limited.

Remarkably, five of the interns have already secured permanent employment: Mary Yaboah, Grace Tachie, Jumai Alhassan, and Lawrencia Essien at AAC, and Charity Butsomekpor at Delma Farms.

The HAPPY Program targets the creation of 326,000 jobs for young Ghanaians, with over 270,000 already engaged since the programme commenced in December 2023.
